AMERICA WAS HUNGRY FOR A SHOW!

During the golden age of the American Medicine Show (1870-1920), countless "Doctors of Medicine" loaded their wagons, assembled their entertainers, and set out over the American landscape to ply their trade on a population hungry for relief from the aches, the pains, and the hum-drum of every day life.
There were no movies, no radio, only a few wind-up phonographs, and lucky was the town that had it's own band. America was hungry for a show!
The Medicine Show comes to town! Maybe it's "Hamlin's Wizard Oil" or "Kickapoo Indian Sagwa", or "Little wonder Electric Rheumatism Rings". The wagon unfolds to form a stage on a street corner, or an open field, or any place which felt like a good "draw". S0metimes handbills were posted, or announcements made in the newspaper, or even from the pulpit of a church. "Hamlin's" even provided their own quartet to sing in the church choir!
The hour arrives and the entertainers strike it up. Music. Always music. Sometimes just one player, sometimes a whole band. Sometimes an "artist" would do some magic, maybe a little dancing and comedy as well. Anything to whip up a crowd, and win their friendshop and confidence.
This was a ready little group of enetertainers. Versatile, fun, and by neccessity able to connect with a crowd AND......
This was the idea that in 1984 inspired three professional musicians to form THE MEDICINE SHOW MUSIC CO.
